I’ve released quite a few tools using Google Sheets, but a frustrating aspect of using Google Sheets to release these tools rather than a software is keeping the user updated. Usually, I have to resort to email blasts or new videos/blog posts to try and get just a fraction of the tool’s users to migrate to the latest version. After some digging, I discovered three methods for cross-document version control with Google Sheets by leveraging popups, scripts, and helper sheets to notify users of new versions.
